Beginner

Here at Dai Mathias we understand that people have many motives for learning to drive. Some are counting down the hours until the reach their 17 birthday, others do it purely to get the advantages that having a licence give you.

Everyone is a bit different so I will tailor your program to your ability and growing confidence , and so plan lessons and tests to suit your needs and timescales. Also you need to factor in government’s timescales for applications for the provisional licence, theory test and practical test lead times.

Your first lesson

On your first lesson (and every other lesson) it is important to be comfortable when your driving. So non restrictive clothing is a good idea and sensible shoes, that are connected at the heel (so no flip flops), no high heals or thick soles. You wil also need to bring your provisional licence and glasses (if you need them), you must be able to read a number plate from at least 20.5 meters.

We will drive away from your home, so there aren’t isn’t any twitching curtains putting you off and go to a quite area so we can practice the skills needed to drive. We will introduce you to setting the car up to drive, the main controls of the car and how you use. Next you can have a go at moving the car, stopping and steering techniques, how much we get done really depends on how welL you’re doing and how hard you want to push yourself.
