COVID-19 Prevention

To help prevent the spread of the Corona Virus these are following measures I shall take to help keep both my pupils and me safe. If yo have any questions or concerns please contact me (number is below).

Driving Lessosn

  • If you need to cancel you lesson due to contact (or suspected contact) normal cancellation rules don not apply. However You will not be able to do a lesson until your quarantine period is over.
  • Immediately before the lesson wash your hands for a minimum of the recommended 20 seconds, if this isn’t possible, I will have hand sanitiser available which I will use just before our lesson starts.
  • It is recommended you wear suitable clothing that provides as much coverage as reasonable; short sleeves are acceptable.
  • The wearing of masks is mandatory (unless you have a medical exception).
  • Once I arrive I will text to let you know I am outside.
  • I will need to be happy that you are well and are ok to the lesson.
  • Between each lesson I will have cleaned down door handles inside and out, windows and mirror controls, seat adjusters and head restraints, seatbelt and its connection, gear lever, steering wheel, indicator and wiper stalks, car keys and training resources.
  • One of the best methods to prevent the spread of the virus is to keep areas well vented so widows will be kept open during the lesson. I have installed wind/rain deflectors that will make this possible in most conditions.
  • Air conditioning will only be used if strictly necessary.
  • Extra people (such parents, guardians or friends) won’t be allowed in the car during lessons or driving tests.
  • The car will be cleaned after each lesson and before the next.

Driving Test

  • We will arrive around 5 minutes before the test is due to start so the car can be sanitised for the examiner.
  • The building will be closed so the examiner will meet us in the car park, please ensure you have suitable clothing. Also, as a result there won’t be any toilet facilities available (unless you have medical exemption).
  • Test & Trace, if a driving test candidate or driving examiner develops symptoms in the days after a test, the NHS Test and Trace service will use data DVSA collects from the candidate to contact them.
  • The examiner may choose to fit a disposable seat cover and must be satisfied the car has been recently cleaned. The examiner will use an anti-viral wipe to clean the passenger door and touch points.
  • Candidates must bring and wear a face covering for the duration of the test, the Examiner can provide one to the candidate if needed. This is a mandatory requirement unless the DVSA is informed at the time of test booking a suitable reason for not wearing one such as a physical or mental illness, impairment or disability that means candidates cannot put one on or remove one.
  • The examiners will also wear a face covering.
  • I will not, or anyone else, be able to accompany you on your driving test.
  • If you develop a cough, or becomes unwell during the test, the test will be stopped.
  • If you develop symptoms within the 3 days prior to a test, they can rebook to another date without losing your fee.
  • If you commit a serious or dangerous fault (or makes 16 driving faults) that would result in a fail, they will be directed back to the Driving Test Centre. Test conditions continue until they return to the centre, where the test will be ended and a debrief offered.
